ASUP Strike - 21 days and Counting - Are Polytechnics being neglected?

It is deeply appalling that for the past ONE MONTH, all polytechnics, under the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), have remained under lock and key, leaving students waiting on either FG or ASUP to shift grounds.

It is also shocking that for this period of time, the Federal Government is yet to react on the issue and put the polytechnics back unto their academic track.

It will be recalled that ASUP, 21 days ago, embarked on strike to force the FG to fulfill the 2009 promise made to the polytechnics.

This protracted strike has left students puzzled as to what to do. Should they go home and wait or have hope that this issue will be resolved as soon as possible.

In such a situation, when 2 elephants fight (FG and ASUP), it's only the grasses (Students) that suffer.

We, the students, hereby plead to both parties to come to a reasonable conclusion and end this strike. The FG on the other hand should give equal treatment to all institutions, be it a University or a Polytechnic.
